Parallel Optical Interconnects
Driving a High Growth Market
IPtronics is strategically focused on the market for short reach optical interconnects.
The amount of data in all types of electronic appliances and networks is rapidly increasing as a consequence of the proliferation of multimedia PCs, gaming consoles, smartphones and tablets, as well as the increased focus on anti terror surveillance and electronic security. As a consequence, the transition from electrical to optical interconnects is inevitable (see IPtronics white paper). The optical module, enabled by IPtronics silicon, is a dedicated solution addressing short reach communication, low cost and very high volume manufacturing.
If your current focus is parallel optical interconnects (POI), we can offer your customers significantly lower power and smaller size combined with strongly reduced cost leading to higher density, lower operational expenditure and higher bandwidth taking full advantage of processor performance increments. The use of optical connections for chip to chip and shelf to shelf communication in routers, computers, storage and gaming will facilitate the migration to systems that can handle terabit-level transmission amounts of data.
IPtronics is working with leading module manufacturers for the definition of next generation modules for short reach optical interconnects. In addition to this, we have taken the initiative understanding the requirements of our customers' customers: - namely the system manufacturers. We are in close dialogue with leading super computer, server and router manufacturers, in order to clearly understand their needs and provide silicon enabling cost, power and bandwidth targets. We are looking not only at satisfying the most immediate requirements, but developing solutions going beyond 2013.
