IPtronics is strategically focused on Parallel Optical Interconnects for the Computer Communications market. The chip technology enables low cost, low power and small size optical interconnect solutions that computer manufactures will adopt to overcome the physical constraints from using copper-based connections over high speed interfaces and backplanes.
With speeds (per channel) from 1Gbps to 28Gbps, IPtronics is currently the leading supplier of silicon for InfiniBand QDR and FDR and have silicon coming for EDR (25GBits per channel).
On the other end of the spectrum, IPtronics offers solutions for consumer applications. With low power consumption and advanced IC power saving schemes, the chip set can address requirements for low power and long battery life. The very small die size enables high density as well as low cost.
For the Cloud, IPtronics is uniquely positioned to deliver solutions enabling low latency, higher front plate density, lower power consumption (over copper) and lower cost while not forgetting upgradability over server generations. This is currently realized with our solutions shipping into 40GE-SR and 100GE-SR applications as well as new generations of Embedded Optical Modules (AKA Mid Board Optical Modules)
For Web2.0, parallel optical interconnects powered by IPtronics enable longer distances, greater bandwidth demand and lower latency. The low power and low cost principles from the consumer space can be applied in Web2.0 applications. Where ever you need a high speed, low cost and easily replaceable link, our chip set is a natural component in next generation low cost cabling. This could be used in storage as well as proprietary links benefitting from low power and consumer price points.
